My husband finds me annoyingly cheerful and happy. That’s because I choose to have a positive attitude. I wasn’t always that way. Early in my life and even in my professional career, I griped and complained and chose to feel slighted. (In the family picture I’m the one with the cool glasses, not smiling.) Once I saw that it wasn’t getting me anywhere, I began to count my blessings. When I take notice of all the things for which I am grateful, it’s hard to be crabby.
But some days, I need a nudge in the right direction, a reminder. So here’s my secret to choosing a positive attitude every day: I receive a fantastically positive message from The Universe in my email. It’s waiting for me when I wake up.
You can receive these messages too; just sign up with TUT. TUT stands for Totally Unique Thoughts and is the brain-child of Mike Dooley. You may remember him from the video version of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Mike’s premise is that “Thoughts become things…choose the good ones” ®. He’s right, of course. Sign up for Notes from the Universe, and get these amazingly positive, fun notes in your in-box first thing in the morning.
Even though I know these notes are going out to over 600,000 people, I still get a thrill and smile when I read that I’m amazing or that I’m right on track or that The Universe has my back.
Sometimes the notes remind me to be other-centered, but never in a “Thou shalt” tone. Every note, regardless of the specific message, is uplifting and inspiring.
And then there are the ones that include a bit of goofiness. They give me a good laugh first thing in the morning. (The Macarena? He’s really dating himself.)
And because I filled in a goal when I signed up, I occasionally get a note that speaks directly to me. That’s when I really sit up and listen – and act. The advice is always designed to get me closer to my goals.
Each daily note is different. But all give me a burst of positive energy every day. Try it. You might find a happier you.

Hi there it’s says i have a invalid email address
Thank you Sophie for the message. TUT updated their website since I wrote this in 2014. I have now included the new link to the Notes in the essay. BTW, I still get them and still enjoy them every day. (Actually, it’s every weekday. Apparently even the Universe wants the weekend off.)
